To make sure that the University is in compliance with all relevant polices for distance education course delivery, the Office of Distance Education will collaborate with academic departments to assist with the deliverance of all distance education, regardless of delivery mode. Below are the steps that are needed to deliver distance education courses.

How to Deliver a Face-to-Face Distance Education Course Away from the Campus

  • Contact the Office of Distance Education prior to placing any distance education course in the Banner System.
      • Distance Education uses special section number coding on distance education courses to easily identify distance learning courses, indicate mode of delivery, and to generate focus reports.
      • These special codes must be placed in Banner for distance education courses to assess the appropriate tuition and fee charges.
      • This helps Distance Education to provide a complete listing to post on A&T Online, UNC Online, and other websites, advertise the courses to students, and keep a proper accounting of all distance education courses.
  • Secure a site location for the course. Please contact Gwen Godard for any needed assistance.
      • If the delivery of the course will involve videostreaming, make sure technicians (host and delivery site) will be available.
      • If technological equipment is needed, make sure it will be available and accessible to you and/or your students
  • Hire your faculty members. It is the responsibility of the department to hire faculty and process all employment packets. (The Office of Distance Education does not provide financial support for the delivery of distance education courses.)
  • Submit textbook information to the Bookstore. It is the responsibility of the department to provide the Bookstore with proper textbook information for all distance education courses.
