Student FAQs

How do I access Canvas?
Students can access Canvas by visiting https://ncat.instructure.com and logging in with their OneID credentials.

What courses will I see in Canvas?
Students will see Fall 2026 courses and forward in Canvas. Fall 2026 courses will be available on the first day of class.

Courses offered prior to Fall 2026 will only be available in Blackboard. Students who have incompletes that need to be resolved should contact their instructors who will then request student access to the courses in Blackboard.

I don’t see one of my courses in Canvas. What should I do?
Courses will be made available in the learning management system on the first day of class. If a course is missing:

  • Confirm that you are officially registered for the course in Aggie Access Online . Updates made in Aggie Access Online will appear in Canvas within 3 to 4 hours.
  • Check that your course has been published in Canvas (if the course is not available on the first day of classes).

What devices and browsers work best with Canvas?
Canvas can be used on desktops, laptops, tablets, and smartphones. For the best performance, students should:

  • Use an updated browser (Chrome or Firefox recommended)
  • Keep their devices up to date
  • Maintain a stable internet connection

Canvas also offers a  Canvas Student mobile app  for accessing course content, announcements, and grades on the go.

With the transition to Canvas, what happens to my previous courses and grades in Blackboard?
Your final grades will continue to be stored in the university’s official records system (Aggie Access Online). Previous Blackboard course access will remain closed to students.

Will Blackboard go away completely?
Course delivery in Blackboard will conclude with the Summer II 2026 term. However, Blackboard will be available to instructors, staff, and administrators until June 30, 2027. During this time, data and course packages may be downloaded and stored as needed.
