Master of Business Administration (MBA)
The MBA Program at North Carolina A&T State University seeks to build a class of students who can engage collaboratively as a community of learners towards excellence in research, scholarship, creative expression, and community engagement. We are very proud of our students' accomplishments and remain committed to structuring and offering a professional graduate business degree that provides them with a thorough understanding of the basic business essentials (economics, accounting, finance, management, and marketing) followed by an intensive study in one of four business concentrations (Accounting, General Management, Human Resource Management, and Supply Chain Management). Our program is offered both in-class and online (except the Accounting concentration, which is in-class only). Our goal is to graduate students who are comfortable with technology and know-how to make an impact (e.g. facilitate decision-making, buy-in, and knowledge sharing), enable capabilities (e.g. helping others to do their jobs more effectively), and get business done efficiently using collaborative tools and platforms.
The College of Business and Economics has been accredited by AACSB International since 1979, and the Accounting program earned its AACSB International accreditation in 1986. In both cases, we were the first university in the Piedmont Triad of North Carolina to earn the prestigious AACSB International stamp of quality. The accreditation assures the quality of the faculty, the curricula and the learning resources.
Our MBA program has a strong record of job placement. Above 90% of the Fall 2016 and Fall 2017 classes found appropriate jobs before commencement. A sample of our graduates' placements is International Paper, Volvo Corporation, Shell Oil, Rubbermaid, John Deere, XPO Logistics, KPMG, Boeing and Amazon. Our students have also been accepted in to start a Ph.D. by some of the most competitive programs in the country.
Our faculty, administrators and staff are committed to the excellence of your graduate studies and great success in your professional career. Students who are ambitious, talented and see opportunity in every challenge will thrive in our student-centered and business-mentored environment at North Carolina A&T State University. WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?
Each year we seek to build a class of students who can engage collaboratively as a community of learners toward excellence in research, scholarship, creative expression, and community engagement. While we understand that our students come with different backgrounds and experiences, they all share the following common characteristics:
Intellectual Curiosity and Analytical Aptitude
The cornerstone of achieving success lies in one’s commitment to and passion for a high standard of excellence. We look for individuals who are discovery-driven and who have a passion for collaboration and lifelong learning. Our course design and our desire for student-faculty interaction depend upon the active participation of innovative students who can assess, analyze and act upon complex information focused on real-life problems. The MBA and Graduate School Admissions Committee will review your prior academic performance, the results of the GMAT or GRE, and, if applicable, TOEFL or IELTS scores, as well as the nature of your work experience. There is no particular previous course of study required to apply; you must, however, demonstrate the ability to master analytical and quantitative concepts.
Ethical Leadership and Community Engagement
While academic rigor is vital to student success, active collaboration of the entire N.C. A&T community is also critical. That’s why we look for students who exhibit the highest ethical standards demonstrated by honesty, trustworthiness and high moral character. The right candidate must have respect for their colleagues and be eager to share their experiences as well as value and integrate diverse perspectives, life experiences, and cultures of others. Our promise is to prepare highly skilled and ethically conscious business leaders through innovative instruction, professional and community engagements, and relevant faculty scholarship.
